With 25 years of experience as a therapist specializing in mental health and substance use disorders, Shevel is a certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor with a focus on the mental health of older adults. She has successfully trained over 100 individuals to become certified Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) responders and has developed multiple training programs over the past 15 years.

 

For the last 10 years, Shevel has dedicated her community work to supporting family caregivers in navigating medical care, coordination, and financial planning. Her expertise and commitment make her an invaluable resource for caregivers.

 

Shevel has held key positions in several organizations, including serving as the Education Committee Co-Chair for the North Carolina Partnership to Address Adult Abuse, the South Eastern Regional Vice-President for the Addiction Professionals of North Carolina, a member of NAADAC's Critical Issues in the Black Community, and the Social Justice Committee of the Addiction Professionals of North Carolina.
